I would grow
sails or wings
to cross the deep
above or underneath

If the eastern winds blow kind across
the empty space
between my arms
I'll make believe them
feathers to
be light enough
to fly to you

And if no vessel
roams that way,

on sails and dreams
to cross the deep
on frail winds of sleep
and air and gather you there

For the sight of water
has me long
to be swallowed up
and sailed out
in the body of
a whale to
